Kino Eye moves time backwards
(Dziga Vertov)

Anna Jermolaewa

Out of a permanent dialogue, in which Anna Jermolaewa sees her own video works with those of other artists, she arranged for the exhibition “curated by_” artistic positions, which indeed have very different filmic approaches, but are at the same time connected through many cross links.
A subtle net is formed, in which e.g. Dziga Vertov with his strategy of the hidden camera in his work “Kinoglaz”, as well as Jan Schumann, who gives away the complete control over the image in “REC”, finds a place.
But also staging, as in the video “stealing beauty” by Guy Ben Ner, in which he filmed his family illegally in various IKEA shops, the documentation of the performance of the “human dog” Oleg Kulik and the sculptural expansion of the media in the space in the work of Hans Schabus are represented in the exhibition, which Anna Jermolaewa descripes as an ornament, in which all aspects of video art- from political and media- reflective issues to those of the classical cinema-, of whom the artist gets so much inspiration, can be found.

A catalogue is accompanying the project “curated by_vienna art&film” by ARGE curated by featuring all participating galleries.
